RECRAFTED – Alycia Hill

 

 

 

A couple of weeks ago I asked my Facebook friends for their help!!! I needed to know which 1 of 4 looks they would like for me to show them the reconstruction process in order to complete that dress. The crowd favorite was the burgundy dress with ruffles.

The first steps included gathering all of the needed material that I found in Goodwill. For this dress I used a burgundy ruffled shirt, a bed sheet as well as a curtain.

    

*Next I had to seam rip the entire shirt separating the ruffles, sleeves, and sheer overlay.

*Then I designed the Pattern for the bottom half of the dress, and cut it out of the curtain. (Yes I used trophies to hold the fabric in place XD!!)

                                   

*I draped the front and back bodice of the dress, then cut the pieces out of the bed sheet and sewed it together.

                                     

*I then used the sheer overlay of the ruffle shirt and matched the size of the bodice and attached it.

                                  

*Next I attached the bodice to the skirt of the dress and added a lapped zipper.

                                 

*Then I scheduled a fitting to make sure everything would fit before adding the sleeves and ruffles.

                                 

*Last and final step: Resize and sew on the sleeves and ruffles around the neck line.

                                

                                   NOW IT’S PHOTO SHOOT TIME!!!
