On my first visit to Goodwill to buy materials for the show, I found a vintage housecoat—floral and very colorful. I knew I wanted to do something with it. It is now part of a lovely top. The housecoat provided only enough fabric for the front of the top, so I had to figure out what to use for the back. The solution? A pink with white polka dots bed sheet, which I found on that same shopping trip. I love how the “limitation” of not having enough fabric from the housecoat led to the creation of a piece I did not initially envision. Moments like these are great challenges that help me grow as a designer.
I invite you to look at my previous work and follow me on Twitter. I hope to see you on Friday, February 21st when I reveal my latest designs!
