For our 7th look in the fashion show, our challenge is to create a garment from newspaper that was sponsored by the News and Record. I eventually decided to create a dress using cardboard to create the outer structure and, paper mâché to go over it so that I could be incorporating the newspaper.

DESIGN PROCESS

My first step was to create the outer structure of the dress using cardboard and duct tape.

2. Once the structure was complete I gathered my materials to start the paper mâché.
 |
 The flour was used so I could avoid using multiple layers of paper. |
3. I now have my finished dress structure!

4. My last and final step is to color over the dress and to use stencils to achieve the rose cutouts.
These Martha Stewart stencils were purchased at Jo-Ann fabric and craft store.
