This week is pretty much the final week I have to complete everything in my collection.
I still have a few finishing touches to be prepared for the photo shoot on Saturday. I’m so excited.
Seeing all the news about tickets selling out is really exhilarating! Looking at the other designer’s blog posts and progress in so inspiring too. Everyone is doing such an awesome job. Local bloggers are getting in on the action and having the chance to do interviews with the media…all so exciting! (Again, I’m excited!)
I can say, that at moments, this challenge has not been easy. Working by day, working on a side business and then working on my collection has a girl burning both ends of the candle at times! But, this experience has been so worth it…and fun! I was a bit nervous about the unconventional materials challenge, but it turned out to be my favorite things to create. My original plan for the paper look definitely morphed into something else. Can’t wait to reveal it on Saturday along with everything else I have been working on.
The photo shoot part of the experience has been one of my favorites (the whole experience has been awesome). There is such a contrast when a model puts on your designs vs. the design on a form. When on a body, it actually comes to life. Then, add make-up, hair and styling and it’s real. I loved picking out the makeup, accessories, etc. for my models. Special shout out to my models, who have taken time to help me.
In this final blog post I really wanted to bring home how much this experience means to me. I’m so grateful I was chosen. I’ve been waiting for a chance, on a large scale to show lots of people my work and what I can do. This is an answered prayer in a way.
It’s awesome to see the community get behind this event and support Goodwill and their endeavors. It’s inspiring to see family, friends, co-works, and peers to rally behind their favorite designer. So, I’ll say it again, I can’t wait until Feb. 21st, show night. I know it’s going to be great.
Thank you to everyone who has helped make Rock the Runway possible. Your hard work has made this event very successful, and I appreciate you!
