I have a background in art. I also come from a few generations of artists and generally crafty people. This reflects greatly in my work. Each garment or collection should evoke a feeling much like art. I am often inspired by fairytales, mythology, and my childhood spent playing in the forest behind my home.

My favorite materials to work with are sheers, silk, tulle, and lace. Movement in the material I use greatly affect the “mood” of the gown. I love to layer as much as possible and use everything I have sitting in front of me. I rarely have anything left over.

I often rework a design several times before deciding on a final cut. I sometimes come up with 6 different combinations just for placing appliques. I like to see all possible options. Even though a sketch is a good place to start I hardly use them for my own designs.

Accessories are just as important as the garments. I have a personal love for headpieces such as crowns. I often enlist my sister of TiffieArtistry to construct my accessories made of resin or leather. We often pass photos of our “making of” back and forth until we have a perfect design or spend most of our days on video chat while we both work. This usually ends with both our designs more elaborate than originally planned.
