How did I get here?

How did I get here?

Taylor RutledgeFor me, timing has always been an irregular phenomenon. When I first applied to be a designer for the Goodwill Triad fashion show, I felt I had proved myself to be accountable and worthy to rock the runway. However, my timing was just a bit off. I realized I couldn’t even be considered to be a designer for the show because I had not submitted my application in on time. I was discouraged and decided to let it go because, at that time, nothing could change my situation.

Four months later, I receive an email from a fellow student, leader and friend, Rachel Wilson. In her email, she notifies me that Laura Schaefer from Goodwill Triad Industries is trying to get in touch with me. This is it. Right then, I already knew the great news to be affirmed by Laura. Yes! I was right!

I was so happy to be asked to design for Rock the Runway. I must say, as usual for me, timing seemed to be an irregular stipple in the great cosmic waves of my strange universe. I accepted the designer position on a Tuesday, followed by appearing on set for the photo-shoot and commercial that Saturday, and here I am now. I had made my decision back in May that I wanted to design. So, naturally, my initial reaction was, “I would love to… .”

Sitting here thinking about all this, I’m wondering, How did I get here? And then, I remembered: Everything you do counts.

Timing will always be irregular, but the way to your future is now!
