What an experience this has been so far! I remember a thought that I had on my way to the second photo shoot for the show, early one Saturday morning:
“Though it may be super early, I’m driving this morning to do something I’ve always dreamed about.”
Then I got kind of emotional. But seriously, it’s very rare that you get a shot to show the world your vision and talent. Like I said, I’ve always wanted to be doing something great with the gift God gave me and hopefully Rock the Runway will be an awesome starting point.
Over these past few weeks, I have completed my first look, started on a few more, learned how to dye stuff (and make a mess) and push myself to keep going. I’ve learned that I can make the most useful and beautiful things out of something else, stretching my mind to think in unconventional ways. I’m sticking to my original inspiration, but it’s evolving into something much better than I anticipated. Sometimes things work out and then some things don’t, you have to adapt.
I took advantage of the anniversary sale on Dec 10th. I think I cleaned out the local Goodwill of black leather jackets. Taking them apart to make a new jacket is going to be awesomely challenging! I’m also using a lot of leather accents in my looks.
One of my favorite pieces for the show is a “fur” jacket. It’s made from a knit cardigan and I’m weaving strips of fur throughout it to make a “fur” jacket. So excited to see how it turns out!
During the holidays I’ve planned a lot of bonding days with my sewing machine to get a lot of work done on my looks. I’m looking forward to those moments. Anticipating the New Year which will bring finishing touches, working with models, producing my part of the show and good times.
