My 7th Look for the Fashion Show

. . . . Designer Ayanna Harrison For our 7th look in the fashion show, our challenge is to create a garment from newspaper that was sponsored by the News and Record.  I eventually decided to create a dress using cardboard to create the outer structure and, paper mâché to go over it so that I could be incorporating the newspaper.   DESIGN PROCESS My first step was to create the outer structure of the dress using cardboard and duct tape. 2.  Once the structure was complete I gathered my  materials to start the paper mâché. Let’s talk about this Unconventional Materials Challenge

Designer - Caroline Baxley Let’s talk about this Unconventional Materials Challenge. This look is going to be pretty exciting and crafty. I love to imagine new ways to make things and make them happen. I know I will use my love of painting in this look. Behind the Scenes with Designer – Nhi Tran

. . One day, before I went to bed, an idea popped up in my mind… I stayed up and got my sketch done in couple minutes, a strapless dress with lovely purple tone, a flare silhouette, and a horizontal zigzag neckline created by the shape of the ties. I couldn’t sleep, tried to visualize my way to construct the garment. The next day, I went to shop at Goodwill. If I couldn’t find any dress in purple, that meant I had to change my original sketch. After two hours searching in all the sections, I found two dresses that [...]
