Meet the Designer – Cheslie

Cheslie began designing in elementary school. She remembers asking her grandmother for some fabric to make an outfit for her favorite teddy bear. Her interest developed into a passion as she grew older. In college, her grandmother gave Cheslie her old Singer sewing machine. “First, I used it to alter various articles of clothing then I made my very first skirt. Meet the Designer – Brian

Brian Atkins has been sketching fashion since he was a child. While he works in corporate America, Brian says, “when I turned 40 I decided that I was finally going to pursue my dream and make it a reality.” Brian took basic sewing lessons, learned to drape and taught himself the rest. Meet the Designer – Tiffany

Tiffany Flowers-Teague describes her design aesthetic as chic, unique and graceful. Tiffany has been a fashion fan since childhood, always dressing up her dolls and loving shopping trips to the mall. As a sophomore at North Carolina Central University, Tiffany joined a modeling troupe where all the models wore handmade clothing. Meet the Designer – Timaya

Timaya Kasey got her start as a designer by watching a teacher create costumes for school productions. “I decided that I wanted to learn how to design my own clothes, so I tried to teach myself,” she says. However, she didn’t really learn how to design until she took her first design studio class at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. Timaya is currently a senior at UNCG majoring in Consumer, Apparel and Retail Studies with a minor in Entrepreneurship. She grew up in Roanoke, Virginia before moving to Charlotte in middle school.
