My Wig Tutorial

I am so excited to be working with Goodwill and their sponsor The News and Record. Goodwill has asked us designers to create one look entirely out of paper! I’ve never worked with paper before but after some research I was pleased to find that working with paper is remarkably similar to working with fabric. Not only am I using paper to create a garment, I’ve used paper to create a wig! In this blog I wanted to give you a little DIY project that is super easy and fun. It’s also very customizable. I was inspired to create a [...]

Have you bought your ticket yet??

Designer - April Morgan With five weeks to go before the show, I am busy working on my fifth outfit and scheduling fittings with the lovely ladies who will model my outfits.  When I first learned of the show back in the fall, the thought of creating seven outfits in three months (that spanned the holidays, no less) seemed quite a challenge.  However, preparing for the show has shown me how creative and productive I can be outside of my 9 to 5 life.  I feel so lucky to be a part of the Rock the Runway event, and I [...]

The flour was used [...]

Let’s talk about this Unconventional Materials Challenge

Designer - Caroline Baxley Let’s talk about this Unconventional Materials Challenge. This look is going to be pretty exciting and crafty. I love to imagine new ways to make things and make them happen. I know I will use my love of painting in this look. I have painted leather for one other look of the show, but the paper challenge will be more like a blank canvas. My old friend paper mache will be accompanying me on the creation of this look. The last time I used the paper mache technique was when a friend and I tried to [...]

Fierce and Fabulous

For this post I won’t say to much about the collection because I want it all to be a big surprise. But what I will say is that it is gonna be fierce and fabulous. There will also be a special guest model that will be closing out my portion of the show. The collection was inspired by my past self and how I am able to change it to match the present and future self. As I mentioned in the last post about what kind of designer I am this collection will show case my evolution of style. I mentioned [...]
