On February 26, 2016, 7 talented designers took over the Elm Street Center in downtown Greensboro to show off their skills at turning Triad Goodwill finds into one-of-a-kind looks.
This year’s event featured the design talents of Amber Colburn, Brian Atkins, Cheslie Kryst, Floria Hance-Morant, Robin Otis-Clayborne, Timaya Kasey and Tiffany Flowers-Teague.
Each designer created six looks using materials found in Triad Goodwill stores. Some of the most unique items included water bottles, ties and shower curtains.
Three designers took home prizes for the 2016 show:
Robin Otis-Clayborne won the News & Record’s Unconventional Material Challenge for her butterfly paper dress. Cheslie Kryst won the Audience Choice Award for her entire collection. Brian Atkins won the Judges’ Choice Award for his collection’s originality, construction and creative use of materials.

Additional designers volunteering their time and talent for Rock the Runway were Amber Colburn, Tiffany Flowers-Teague, Floria Hance-Morant and Timaya Kasey. Judges were Princess Johnson of Royal Expressions Contemporary Ballet, Susan Ladd of the News & Record, Katie O’Brien from Jared & Katie In the Morning on 107.5 KZL, and Lynn Wooten of The Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro. Proceeds from Rock the Runway support Triad Goodwill’s mission of providing free career development services in Alamance, Caswell, Guilford, Randolph and Rockingham Counties for the un- and underemployed.
